Evaluation of the Regional Association of Energy Regulators (ERRA) regarding the electricity tariff review process of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO)

ERO is an independent institution and does not become part of the daily political discourse. The latest decision on energy tariffs is compliance with the legal obligation to set tariffs that are cost-reflective. The suspended decision was presented in Budapest as an example and good practice of tariff regulation. ERO invites all customers to maximally save electricity and not to fall prey to political misinformation. ERO will inform you in a timely manner of any developments regarding the tariffs.

Below you can find the thank-you letter addressed to ERO by the Chair of ERRA, Mrs. Maia Melikidze:

Honourable Chair Fejzullahu,

The Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) had the pleasure of welcoming to Budapest the Head of the Pricing and Tariffs Department of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) to present ERO’s recent experience in undertaking the electricity tariff review.

The Energy Regulatory Office is becoming an increasingly active member of ERRA and the recent case study presents a reference point for stable and predictable regulatory policy. Energy Regulators throughout our organization are facing the challenge of increasing the tariffs to match the unprecedented increase in wholesale power costs. ERO’s approach ensured adjusting the allowed revenues to ensure cost recovery while increasing efficiency incentives by applying a retail block-tariff structure. Your extensive and interactive public consultation is also encouraging.

Thank you for presenting your recent experience to our members. ERRA looks forward to seeing you physically future events and avails itself of this opportunity to renew the Energy Regulatory Office the assurances of its highest consideration.

Kind regards,

Maia Melikidze
