Trilateral CEER-ECRB-MEDREG Workshop in Lisbon
In Lisbon, Portugal, the trilateral CEER-ECRB-MEDREG workshop was successfully held, with the participation of the Chairman of the Board of ERO as well as the current President of ECRB, Mr. Ymer Fejzullahu and senior representatives from CEER and MEDREG.
In his speech, Mr. Fejzullahu stated that in order to succeed in the energy transition until 2030, 2040 and 2050, the main regulatory challenges must be addressed. National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) should develop frameworks that promote the integration of renewable energy and facilitate dynamic pricing and transparent billing. Furthermore, NRAs should support transmission and distribution system operators in preparing for the integration of renewable resources by ensuring system adequacy and balancing reserves. The implications of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) also require regulatory adjustments for compliance with EU regulations. The Chairman of the Board of ERO, at the same time the current President of ECRB, Mr. Ymer Fejzullahu emphasized that joint efforts will be essential for overcoming these challenges.
The workshop held three key sessions focused on critical energy sector issues.
This workshop reinforced the importance of cooperation between energy regulators to foster a sustainable and integrated energy future for Europe and the Mediterranean region.
